Cantonese Movies & Shows: Now at Little Kozzi!

We always get parents asking where we can find high-quality children's media in ✨Cantonese✨.

After all, Cantonese is a spoken language first, and the best way to learn is through the sheer exposure of hearing it a lot.

Ask any CBC/ABC who still speak Cantonese today, and many of them of them will tell you they learned by watching Canto movies or copious amounts of TVB 😂

But it's been SO HARD to find Cantonese content that is kid-friendly, educational, and actually interesting! So we're pretty excited to announce we recently secured a batch of Cantonese movies and shows on Blu-Ray and DVDs for y'all Canto families!

No more worrying about your kid's favourite Cantonese movie being suddenly taken off of "your favourite streaming service" (though... many here can't be found on streaming services to begin with).

I've been testing these myself and only chose to source titles I personally think are good. Most of the movies you'll see here are blockbusters from Disney or Pixar (e.g. Frozen, Monsters Inc, Toy Story) that cast well-known Hong Kong artists like Jacky Cheung (張學友), Jan Lamb (林海峰), Sean Lau (劉青雲), Joey Yung (容祖兒) to voice the Cantonese production. Or, they are simply beloved classics by Studio Ghibli 💕

We also brought in some shorter bite-sized shows like ✨ Mickey Mouse Clubhouse ✨ and ✨ My Friends Tigger & Pooh ✨ for younger kids.

I've tested MANY other shows with my 3yo, and these two particular Disney Junior series were my favourite because the Cantonese dubs are high quality, and faithful to the original English voice. Plus, the content is educational, AND they translate and perform all songs in Cantonese too (!!)

I know screen time isn't for every family, but for those that have been looking for good Cantonese programming (like meee 🙋🏻‍♀️), I hope you enjoy these ☺️
