Three animals, who aren't wearing life jackets or floaties head out on a "deep" adventure together!
They ask, "Excuse me, is the swimming pool very deep? Will our feet reach the bottom?"
Dinosaur replies, "Why yes, the water only reached my thighs."
Elephant replies, "Of course, the water only reached my belly."
Big Bear replies, "Mmm, it's a little deep. The water was all the way to my chest."
The three animals are left wondering, soo... will our feet reach the bottom then??
Dinosaur, Elephant, and Big Bear are different heights, so it was natural that they'd have different responses. But it is this difference that builds up to the climax of the story!
Excuse Me, Will My Feet Reach the Bottom? is the winner of Hsin Yi's 18th Annual Children's Literature Award.
Liu Hsu-Kung retells the adventures of a dog, a cat and a pig with humour, to highlight the idea of perspective. At the same time, we find our young readers glued to the story as they wonder whether or not their little friends will end up falling into the deep end!
Includes an English translation after the story, and a bilingual English/Mandarin audio reading via QR Code.
