Nadima never dreamt that she would become a brave walker treading on high and rugged mountains. She summoned her inner courage to face the different challenges she encounters together with the little friend she met on the journey. Can Nadima find her desired new home at last?
Over the summer of 2020, the UN Refugee Agency of Hong Kong launched a storybook about Nadima, featuring her escape journey in a child-friendly way — full of colourful and lovely drawings.
It is an educational storybook that depicts the challenging life of a refugee child from South Sudan, helping our young readers develop empathy, reflect on the fortunate lives we have, and broaden their international horizon.
Today, nearly half of the refugees around the world are children. Due to conflict or persecution, these innocent refugees were forced to flee their homes and start their long journeys for safety. They often have to trek through forests, rough seas and borders to survive.
