Often times, we as parents are reluctant to let young children "help" because it ends up being more work, like when they break a bowl while carrying it. Or when they spill more than than they mop up. Or when they nearly drown the plants with too much water...
When we do so, however, we deprive them of excellent opportunities to learn self-care, and to be productive members of the household (and eventually, the society).
Our little humans are learning about their place in this world. Their intrinsic desire is to learn what we adults do and help.
This is a a great book for parents to re-examine their responses to their young child when they ask to "help". When read with a little one, it's also a great way for them to build their confidence in helping around the house in a highly relatable story.
